A campfire is one of the most magical parts of Scouting. Songs, stories and toasted marshmallows bring everyone together. Our Firepit & Campfire Risk Assessment ensures these special times are safe for young people, volunteers and families.

We plan carefully for:

  • Burns and smoke — keeping a safe distance, tying back hair and having water buckets ready

  • Behaviour — clear rules, adult supervision and respect for the fire circle

  • Building and tending fires — only by trained adults, never left unattended

  • Cooking safety — only adults handling food over flames, checking allergies, cooling food before eating

  • Arrival and departure — leaders guiding seating, entry and exits safely

With these steps, our campfires remain safe, inclusive and magical — the perfect setting for songs, laughter and togetherness.
