Safe Adventures After Dark - Night Walks
How we prepare for night walks so they are exciting, safe and full of discovery for young people.
RISK ASSESMENT
1/6/20241 min read
A night walk can feel like stepping into a storybook adventure. With torches lighting the way and friends by your side, the world feels different after dark. This Night Walk Risk Assessment makes sure that magic is always matched with safety.
Key areas we cover include:
Visibility — wearing hi-viz jackets, bringing torches and staying together
Traffic awareness — using pavements, crossings and the Green Cross Code
Weather — planning ahead for rain or heat and ensuring suitable clothing
Terrain — keeping to safe paths, avoiding obstacles and choosing sensible footwear
Supervision — leaders at the front and back, headcounts and emergency contacts
With clear plans and trained leaders, night walks become safe opportunities to explore, discover and build confidence together.
