Our Community Projects

Why is it important?

Getting our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts out into the community is more than just ticking a badge-work box—it’s how young people discover the power they already have to shape the world around them.

Whether they’re filling bags on a local litter-pick, planting pollinator-friendly beds for an eco-initiative, or sorting donations for rough-sleepers, each hands-on project turns abstract values like “care,” “respect” and “service” into lived experience.

The tasks are simple, but the lessons are big: they learn teamwork, leadership and empathy; they see that small, consistent actions add up to visible change; and they begin to feel a lifelong responsibility for their environment and their neighbours.

Community projects give our sections a shared purpose, build positive visibility for Scouting, and—most importantly—show every young person that they belong to something bigger than themselves.

The Cressington Wombles

Every month we meet to support the Cressington Wombles in keeping our area clean and enjoyable for all.

We have already collected hundreds of bags this year and we are encouraging more people to help every week.
