From Digital Woes to Campfire Glows – Two Years as GLVs with Heartfelt Thanks from Ahmeek & Chip 💚

As we reach the two-year mark in our roles as Group Lead Volunteers at 25th Allerton St Mary’s Grassendale Scout Group, we wanted to pause, reflect and say a heartfelt thank you.

These two years have been full of change, learning and growth — from navigating new Scouts UK systems (hello, digital tools, DBS checks and updated training modules!) to building and supporting amazing section teams. Through it all, your encouragement and commitment have kept us going.

Highlights from the Journey So Far

  • We’ve loved seeing each section grow, with more young people working towards their top awards and getting stuck into exciting nights away and adventurous activities.

  • We’ve embraced family scouting, building even stronger connections across our wider community.

  • With your support, our Leadership Team and youth numbers have grown, and that’s something to be really proud of.

  • Our Trustees and Fundraising Team have stood right beside us — small but mighty — and we’re so grateful for their energy, ideas and time.

What’s Next?

There’s lots to look forward to:

  • A brand new group website is on the way (thanks to the brilliant skills within our team!)

  • We’re already beginning to dream about celebrating our 75th Anniversary in 2026

  • And... we’re hopeful for a Hut Rebuild Project in the not-too-distant future 🤞

None of this would be possible without the dedication of every single volunteer, every helping hand, and every supportive family.

Thank you for all you do — from the weekly meetings and weekend camps to the quiet behind-the-scenes efforts that make Scouting the special experience it is for our young people.

Here’s to the next chapter — and many more adventures ahead!
With thanks and Scout spirit,
Jane (Ahmeek) & Richard (Chip)
