Cubs Camp at Kettlenook — Rockets, Rain and Big Smiles
Rain couldn’t dampen the spirits at Cubs Camp this weekend, with rockets, pioneering, workshops and plenty of muddy adventures.

The Cubs had an unforgettable weekend at Kettlenook Camp, and although the rain came down, it certainly didn’t stop the fun!
From the moment tents went up, the campsite was buzzing with excitement. Activities included:
🚀 Bottle rockets soaring into the sky — expertly led by Richard, one of our parents, who gave up his own time to run exciting rocket workshops. Supersonic launches had the Cubs wide-eyed and grinning from ear to ear.
🪢 Pioneering with Chil and Alicia (washing-up bowl stands never looked so good!)
🔪 Knife workshops — thank you Akela for the brilliant skills session!
🌲 Forest exploration leaving Cubs a little muddy but very happy
Joe was especially excited to try out our brand-new parachute shelter. Sadly the weather kept it grounded this time — but judging by the size, it looks like it will one day fit all our Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and even Squirrels!
In the evening there was hot chocolate, smores and laughter before everyone settled down, warm and dry in their tents. After a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs, it was straight back into more adventures, with the camp rounded off by another round of explosive rockets.
It was a weekend of fun, teamwork and muddy memories. The Cubs left tired, happy and a little more confident than when they arrived — which is exactly what Scouting is all about.
💛 A huge thank you to all the volunteers (and parents like Richard!) who made this experience possible. From leading activities to cooking meals and keeping spirits high, you brought the magic to camp.
