Keeping Scouting Safe, Together đź’š
Scouting is full of campfires, friendship, and trying new things — but behind all the fun, there’s something really important that helps keep it safe for everyone: DBS checks.
🛡️ Safety comes first
Whether we’re building shelters or toasting marshmallows, every young person deserves a space where they feel secure and supported. A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check helps us make sure every adult involved in Scouts is suitable to be working with young people.
🤝 Looking out for each other
From leaders and helpers to committee members and occasional volunteers — anyone regularly involved will need a DBS check. It’s not about red tape — it’s about peace of mind, and creating a space where trust and safety are always part of the adventure.
🎓 More DBS checks than diplomas!
Some of our volunteers could start a collection — they’ve got more DBS certificates than diplomas! That’s what happens when you work or volunteer with young people in lots of different places. Each organisation needs its own check though, so even if someone’s already DBS-checked elsewhere, we’ll still need to do one for Scouts.
✅ It’s easy, free, and fully supported
If you're stepping into a role, our team is here to help every step of the way. It’s free, it’s simple, and it helps us all keep Scouts safe and welcoming for everyone.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Because families trust us
DBS checks show parents and carers that we’re serious about safeguarding. They help everyone feel confident that their young people are in safe hands while they explore, grow and have fun.
Thanks for being part of the team that makes all this possible.
Because when safety comes first, the adventures can follow 🌟
