🌍 Earth Tribe Award — Our Beavers Are Officially Eco Heroes!

Over the past twelve months, our Beavers have been on a mission. Thanks to a Nestlé grant, which gave us the brilliant opportunity to dig deeper into the eco issues shaping our world, each lodge has thrown themselves into learning, doing and making a real difference.

From the hut to the high street, here's what they've been getting up to:

🌿 Recycling — understanding what goes where and why it matters

🐘 Endangered animal species — discovering the creatures who need our help most

💧 Clean water — exploring why access to safe water is a global challenge millions of people face every day

🛍️ Plastics and our planet — learning how plastic pollution is poisoning our oceans, rivers and wildlife

🗑️ Litter picking in our community — getting their hands dirty (literally!) to keep Cressington, Grassendale and the wider L19 area clean and beautiful

But perhaps the most special part of this whole journey has been the ecobricks.

Each lodge has been working steadily — term by term — to fill their ecobricks, packing waste plastic into bottles to create solid, usable building blocks. It's been a test of patience and determination, and every lodge has risen to the challenge.

And here's why it means so much. Those ecobricks will be used to build a planter in memory of our Scout Group's founder, the late Reverend Eric Clarkson — a man who gave so much to this community and who had a particular love for spring flowering daffodils. 🌼

We think that's a perfect way to remember him. A living, growing tribute — built by the hands of the very young people he helped inspire all those years ago.

The planter build is planned for next term, and we cannot wait to see it come to life.

Well done, Beavers. You've shown that small actions, taken together, really do add up to something extraordinary. 💚
